Supernova Success

Wyvern Profile: Emily Hamilton (1996, Commerce/Arts)

We caught up with Wyvern Emily Hamilton (1996, Commerce/Arts) whose social e-commerce company Supernova is celebrating a meteoric rise. Creating health, beauty and lifestyle products from the ground up, Supernova already has an impressive stable of five brands—SkinnyMint, BodyBoss, bellabox, Pop Smile, and Sand & Sky—under its helm, with 60 employees spread across Singapore, UK, Philippines, Australia, Canada, and India.
Based in their Singapore headquarters, Emily and her husband are not only trailblazing with Supernova, but also busy raising two young young children. Though after living overseas for most of her time since she left university, Emily and the family plan on returning back home to Australia within the next few years—no doubt to a booming heath and beauty empire.

Why this career?
After finishing university, travelling through Europe and job-hopping I found myself in a marketing job. I discovered that I loved being creative and developing new concepts and marketing campaigns. It was then an easy transition to running my own company as I had been focusing on growth and problem solving all day.
Best career advice?
Working hard is the key! Always push yourself into new and uncomfortable experiences by taking calculated risks, have an open mind and strive to learn.
Your biggest career influence?
My Dad, a true entrepreneur and small business mogul.
Most exciting project?
Right now it is balancing raising two small children and expanding the company. We recently opened an office in Vancouver and Melbourne so we are becoming a truly international company.
A memory of Queen’s?
Winning the rowing in 1996, doing a pub crawl up Swanson Street after the race and having a spoon-bang once we made it back to the dining hall.
