Summary
There are intercollegiate events in a wide range of fields, not just sports.
Participating in intercollegiate activities is a great opportunity to get to know students at other colleges and have a go at something new.
Some intercollegiate events are competitive, with prizes and trophies awarded to the winning colleges every year.

If the countless activities within Queen’s is not enough, then there are also many opportunities to explore and discover your skills (and have a great time) with intercollegiate activities!

All Melbourne University colleges participate in intercollegiate sports and arts events. There is an intercollegiate sports cup for men and women, and an intercollegiate cultural cup, to which points for each event or sport go towards.

Intercollegiate Sports & Arts

If you are into sport, or not into sport and have always wanted to be, you could play in over a dozen different sports as part of a Queen’s team – refer to the Sports page for details.

If art is more your thing, there are:

  • intercollegiate soirees
  • battle of the bands
  • writing competition
  • art competition and exhibition
  • theatre sports
  • debating
  • public speaking competition
  • pool and darts competition

There is nothing like a bit of friendly competition to help make friends and have fun, and so even if you don’t want to be involved in the sports of other activities there is always the vital position of cheering on your friends and your college.

There is nothing better than cheering yourself hoarse after a Queen’s victory (see rowing!!!) and nothing can make you more proud than screaming with 200 of your new closest friends in the green, gold and chocolate while your friends do their best.

Intercollegiate Ball

It’s not all sports and competitions though. There is an intercollegiate ball earlier on in the year which is an awesome way to catch up with friends from home who weren’t fortunate enough to choose Queen’s, as well as a great night out.

Dinner Swaps

Dinner swaps give you the chance to eat at another college see how their food compares to yours, your mum’s and Queen’s.

No shortage of events!

Friendly events are also being held, such as a chess competition, dancing classes, gallery and play excursions and other great opportunities where you can meet like minded individuals from other colleges as well as your own.

In the end it is what you make of it, and there is definitely the ingredients to make something amazing with all of the opportunities available at Queen’s.
