Queen’s College is one of the largest colleges and has a number of speciality facilities. While Queen’s offers the tutorial rooms for general use, there are also several rooms in College for music practice and a studio for architecture, painting & drawing, construction, fashion and other design interests.

Music Rooms
Musical interests are encouraged by the College and we often have soirees or concerts dedicated to students and senior residents who play piano, violin, guitar and many other instruments. Because of this we have many rooms and facilities available for students with a passion for music.
Often residents with a variety of musical talents will gather to strum out their own tune or practice a classic in the Junior Common Room – with it’s high ceilings, the acoustics are unmatched.
Alternatively, the Una Porter Room and the Stafford Room located above the dining hall are a more private practice space. Students and catering staff have been delighted with the sounds of the piano playing from the Stafford Room over lunch and other times.
Tutorial Rooms
Besides being used for tutorials these rooms are also used as meeting places for group assignments, committee discussions or other educational pursuits. On occasion the tutorial rooms house group activities such as debates, play rehearsals and computer gaming.
Design Studio
The tower studio is a productive space for students with a flair for creativity. Previously the College library, it’s now outfitted solely for design and architecture students.
There is ample room for students to make architectural models, cut profiles, make sets, and other low production models. Recently, some have been taking drawing up there, miniature sculpture, resin casting, felting, book binding and some spray painting. It was also used as a building space for the set and props team of the MADS production. There is yet more room for activities, such as life drawing, craft, visual arts and sculpture.
The light box is now more accessible and is an asset to the studio. The studio space is bright and open and is located at the top of the tower. A double storey room with windows facing all directions, the views are amazing and the paints and pencils are plentiful.
