The collections of Queen’s College Library, the Featonby Library, have been developed as a resource and support for the whole College community. There are several noteworthy book collections:

The Main Collection specifically focuses on the resident students of the College, and is a valuable support resource for student courses and the college’s tutorial program. It functions as a supplement to the university library. Students in every program will find most of their information needs here, thereby eliminating the need to compete for resources at the university library. Particularly beneficial is the entire semester loan period so that students have access to required texts for the duration of their course.

The Main Collection consists of reference works, texts, required reading material, and other books that are valuable for assignments. Development of the collection is largely in response to the requests and suggestions of the students and tutors of the College, thereby ensuring that the collection evolves with university trends and is continually relevant to student needs.

The Browsing Collection consists of quality fiction and light reading materials. Many of these titles have been short-listed for various book awards. There is also a periodical section, with titles such as New Scientist, Economist, Time, BRW, National Geographic, Guardian and New Yorker, and many more.
The college maintains the Browsing Collection in order to provide a relaxation break to scholarly pursuits, and to complement the varied interests of the whole person. Students enjoy this welcome break from the rigors of academia.

The AV Collection consists of DVDs and music CDs, to promote relaxation on a weekend or when having friends over to their room. The music collection is primarily classical.

The Wyvern Collection is a special collection of over 1,000 books and pamphlets that were authored/edited by previous residents at Queen’s College (Wyverns) during the last 100 years. This collection is housed in a glass bookcase in a prominent location, and it challenges current residents to dream of future possibilities in their careers ahead. Older Wyverns regularly return to Queen’s to revisit ‘old times’, and delightedly exclaim when they recognize a work written by a contemporary peer.
The college is extremely proud of its Wyverns and avidly collects their publications; donations are always gratefully accepted.

Sugden Heritage Collections, and Archives. These two collections are of special interest to researchers. The Sugden Collection has international significance and holds some unique material. Queen’s College Archives holds items that document College history and student life.

Donations of books or gifts of money are always gratefully accepted, and appropriate bookplates honour the donor. Duplicate copies of books may be made available to students at the librarian’s discretion; students avidly collect books in their subject areas and give them ‘good homes’.
