The Queen’s College Library is a fantastic resource for residents! Although the University of Melbourne has a number of libraries on campus and the State Library of Victoria is only a thirty minute walk away, none of these have the friendly and relaxed atmosphere that makes studying in the Queen’s library so comfortable. It’s the perfect place to go when you want to spread out and work solidly without being disturbed, and the study room is great for group work, and all in the comfort of ‘your home’. The library is open 24 hours, 7days a week.
The library stocks nearly every textbook you could possibly want for your course, as well as related books for essays and assignments. If there is anything you need that is not listed on the catalogue, you are encouraged to submit a purchase request. Texts and books can be borrowed for the whole semester, so there are no overdue fines!
The Queen’s library is committed to the academic success of our students. The library is in touch with the university in order to provide the most up-to-date, quality resources for student courses, and offers friendly assistance to students in finding relevant information.
More than just text books!
Over the years, several library collections have been carefully developed to support both the academic and recreational interests of students. In addition to textbooks, students can also borrow from a large range of fiction books, DVDs, music CDs and popular magazines. The Sugden Heritage Collections and College Archives are special collections that are of particular interest to researchers.
The library has computers and wireless access to the internet for ready access to the University’s electronic resources. Students regularly use the library’s computers and print room to print their lecture notes before going to lecture. Photocopying facilities are also available. Copies of past exams are readily accessible on the University Library website.
Several casual positions are available each year to students wanting to work in the Queen’s College Library.
SWOTVac Refuge
During the end-of-semester exam period, the Queen’s College Library provides an excellent refuge for students wishing to escape the distractions of their room. It is a light, spacious and quiet study area with facilities for student laptops.
