Student Rooms
Whilst your room plays an important part in your stay at College, you will quickly find that your corridor and communal bathroom also play an important role. The ‘corridor culture’ is a distinctive aspect of College life.
Eakins Dining Hall
Eakins Hall is the place in Queen’s for dining and socializing. With three meals provided a day, seven days a week, you are never left fending for yourself. Meals tend to be very social occasions and with people chatting to different year levels, courses and backgrounds.
Music, Design and Tutorial Rooms
Queen’s College is one of the largest colleges and has a number of speciality facilities. While Queen’s offers the tutorial rooms for general use, there are also several rooms in College for music practice and a studio for architecture, painting & drawing, construction, fashion and other design interests.
Recreation Centre
The Nicholas Laboratory, or ‘Labs’, were built in 1930 for the purpose of being science laboratories. However in later years they were renovated and now serve as a 24 hour recreational complex that is run by the students.
Information Technology
IT and the Internet plays a central role in university life and Queen’s College has invested heavily in this area to ensure the College and residents benefit from it.
The Library
The Queen’s College Library is a fantastic resource. While the University of Melbourne has a number of libraries on campus and the State Library of Victoria is only a thirty minute walk away, none of these have the friendly and relaxed atmosphere that makes studying and group work in the Queen’s library so comfortable. It’s the perfect place to go when you want to spread out and work solidly without being disturbed.
