The Wyverna Club was formed for non-resident women members of Queen’s College who joined together in loyalty to Queen’s. There is no exact record of the founding of the Club; the earliest mention dates back to documents in 1904. Until 1973 when the College became co-educational, undergraduate and graduate women were members of the Club. The objectives of the Wyverna Club are:
- To promote social interaction between the women members and Queen’s College;
- To foster the interests of the College and the women students; and
- To raise funds for an annual donation to the Queen’s College Library.
Membership
There have been no new members since 1973 because Queen’s women now belong to the Wyvern Society. Currently there are 20 active members of the Wyverna Club.
Activities
The Club has three meetings a year:
- The Annual General Meeting;
A fundraising meeting, to which guests are invited; and - An annual lunch with guest speaker.
- In addition, the Treasurer, Winsome Sunderland works in the Queen’s College Library on a regular basis and Wyverna volunteers assist in the Library when there is a need for their help.
