History

Queen’s College is an academic residential community situated right next door to the University of Melbourne. Its community consists of students (both undergraduate and postgraduate), tutors, professionals and staff. It also has non-resident members.

Most students residing at Queen’s College attend the University of Melbourne. Some attend RMIT and the Victorian College of Pharmacy (Monash).
The College aims to provide the best possible environment for students to pursue their studies at university. It offers them accommodation, support and encouragement in their academic work and in their intellectual, cultural, physical, social and spiritual development.

By living in a broad and varied community and through the activities that take place at the College, residents develop strong social and practical skills which will benefit them throughout their life.

Members are encouraged to develop as independent individuals and also as a community, accepting responsibility for their actions and their lives. At the same time they are also encouraged to contribute to the well-being of the College as a whole.

The College achieves these goals because of the unique mix of its membership, which enables young people to interact with each other and with senior academics, graduates and members of the College’s wider community.
